EIGHT YEARS

Today makes the the anniversary of my turning away from drugs and alcohol and turning to Jesus Christ. On the morning of February 5, 2003 I found myself alone, addicted, staring at a pile of cocaine and an empty bottle of Jack Daniels after being on a week long binge.

It was on that morning God moved radically in my life, I had no clue what the future would hold but I did know that I had to get close to Him who held the future in His hand.

In Genesis 12:1 God called Abram.

Genesis 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

God did not tell Abram where to go at that moment, He just told Abram to “go from”.

To “go from” his old neighborhood, no more hanging out at the old haunts.

To “go from” hanging out with his peeps to embark on a new journey.

To “go from” his father’s household, it was time to move out and head out.

Abram stepped out in faith fully trusting in the Lord, like Abram I found myself not knowing where I was going but knowing for sure what I was leaving behind, fully trusting in the Lord I have no regrets and I have not been disappointed.

Joel 2:25 God promises to restore.

Joel 2:25 So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…

God is all about saving souls and restoring lives.

In Christ I no longer find myself desiring to do the things I used to want to do.

Jesus has given me salvation, a future and a hope.

Restored, redeemed, fulfilled, satisfied, recovered and cured I find myself lacking nothing in Christ.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired?

Commit your life to Christ, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, surrender to Him daily and allow Him to lead you.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

And He will blow your mind.

REVELATION SONG

THE JOY SET BEFORE US

Hebrews 12:2

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Looking unto Jesus; our hearts, our minds, every fiber of our being looking to Him who endured the cross, that final trial that brought Him into the joy of being in the presence of His Father. We have that same joy set before us as we endure and go through trying times on this earth we can rest in the promise of God for those of us who believe.

HEAVEN:
This is something that all of us who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior have to look forward to. We have a future and a hope, and no matter how crazy things get in this world, heaven is our final destination.

What is heaven? This could be summed quite simply, it’s God’s home, where His throne is. Matthew 6:9 & John 14:2-3

Who occupies heaven? The triune God (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit), the redeem from all ages and angels.Rev. 4:1-3 & Rev. 7:9 & Rev. 4:4-6

How long will heaven last? Heaven will last forever and ever. Rev 5:13 & Matt. 25:46

What is heaven like? Well it’s better than earth. Phil. 1:23 & 2 Cor. 5:8

Heaven is also a place of…

No sorrow, pain, crying, or death. Rev 21:4

No curse and with plenty of purpose and no boredom. Rev 22:3

No darkness. Rev. 21:23, 25

No sickness, a place of final healing. Rev. 22:2

Perfect bodies. Phil. 3:21 & 1 Cor. 15:51-53

Glorification, we shall be like Him. 1 John 3:1-2

Many mansions. John 14:1-3

Worship. Rev. 21:3

Abundant life. Rev. 22:1-2

Overflowing joy. Psalms 16:11 & 1 Tim. 6:17

Grand reunion. 1 Thess. 4:13-18

Beauty. Rev. 21:18-21

Moral perfection. 1 Cor. 13:10 & 1 John 3:2

Rest. Rev. 14:13

Perfect knowledge. 1 Cor. 13:12

Indescribable glory. Romans 8:18

Seeing God face to face. 1 John 3:2 & Psalms 17:15

So you see? It is the joy that is set before us!

A NEW CREATION

“Grace that cannot change you is a grace that cannot save you” -C.H.S.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

I find it somewhat disheartening that so many will jump from rehab to rehab and meeting to meeting and not give Jesus a chance to work in their lives. Never going to a biblically based church, never tasting that the Lord is gracious and forever being stuck in recovery. Jesus came to set the captives free and those who the Son sets free shall be free indeed.

Give Jesus a chance, draw close to Him, get pressed in at a good church and walk in the newness of life.
